The bucket that allowed a hulett to unload a Great
Lakes iron ore boat was controlled by an operator who rode just
above the bucket in a small cab in the vertical leg. In all
the drawings on this page the bucket at the bottom of the leg
is open. In many of the drawings the rotate ring at the top
of the leg also makes an appearance. Republic Steel’s
Upper Dock had two huletts, and so two legs; the Lower Dock
had three. When they were in simultaneous motion it was as if
they were dancing. |
